Part satirical manifesto, part political romance, 1984 is set in a dystopian future where obedient citizens live under the omnipresent surveillance of Big Brother. George Orwell's chilling novel follows Ingsoc party member Winston Smith, whose inward discontent with his life becomes something more when a mysterious girl presses an illicit note into his hands.
